What is 'TOUR of DUTY' ?

After getting so many requests, I am writing this blog. Kindly consider that all of the information mentioned in this post is not official. TOUR of DUTY(ToD) is a proposal yet and no notification has been released by army yet. Indian army is considering this proposal to enlist civilians to join Indian Army on a voluntary basis for a period of 3 years. It is just like internship which includes 1 year of training and 3 years of service in Indian Army. Proposed model of ToD is to be implemented on a trial basis by releasing 100 vacancies for Officer's Post and 1000 vacancies for Soldier's Post. If successful, vacancies would be increased.

RANKS AND PROMOTIONS IN INDIAN ARMY

UPDATE:A new rank of Chief of Defence Staff(CDS) started from 1 Jan,2020.CDS is head of Army, Navy and air force.Currently Gen.Bipin Rawat holds this rank. Gentleman Cadet(GC): A trainee is considered as Gentleman cadet on admission to Indian Military Academy until his passing-out Parade. Pay: A Gentleman Cadets gets a fixed stipend of Rs. 56,100/- Per Month Commissioned Officer's Ranks and promotions: Lieutenant: On completing training from the academy any officer is commissioned as Lieutenant in Indian Army.    Shoulder Patch: Two five pointed stars.   Salary: Placed in Pay Band 10 (Rs. 56,100-1,77,500) Captain: On Completion of 2 years of reckonable Commissioned Service in Indian Army.
