Rafael: Booster for Indian Defence

With the incoming of Rafael fighter jet. Indian Defence system receives a major booster for its aerial warfare.

It will provide major advantage to India in case of Aerial combat.

The arrival of 5 jets out of ordered number of 36 comes during bitter border row of India with its rival neighbour China. As per former Air Chief Marshal of Indian Air force BS Dhanoa:

"Rafale has got a fantastic Electronic Warfare (EW) suite (SPECTRA), fantastic weapons and therefore are capable of protecting themselves electronically besides being able to use the terrain to their advantage,".

"Once you take out those surface to air missiles, then other aircraft like Su30, Jaguars, even Mig 21s can go out and drop the bombs on the Chinese forces. The strike aircraft carrying bombs can put tonnes and tonnes of bombs on the enemy troops, freely carrying out their mission. But if you do not do DEAD then you will suffer a lot of casualties," he said.

So, obviously it is going to boost our Defence system a lot which is already very powerful with the second largest Army and 4th largest air force in the world.

What is 'TOUR of DUTY' ?

After getting so many requests, I am writing this blog. Kindly consider that all of the information mentioned in this post is not official. TOUR of DUTY(ToD) is a proposal yet and no notification has been released by army yet. Indian army is considering this proposal to enlist civilians to join Indian Army on a voluntary basis for a period of 3 years. It is just like internship which includes 1 year of training and 3 years of service in Indian Army. Proposed model of ToD is to be implemented on a trial basis by releasing 100 vacancies for Officer's Post and 1000 vacancies for Soldier's Post. If successful, vacancies would be increased.
